Regress Much?

People warned me Maggie might sense big changes the bigger my belly got. No kidding...

She asks for "warm white milk in a bottle".

She crawls around on the floor and says she's a baby.

She's growing more attached to her pacifier (if that's possible). She sucks on it so hard she's getting red marks/rashes around her lips.

When she wakes up in the middle of the night she asks to sleep in mommy and daddy's bed. She was never a co-sleeper!

And now this:

Mommy vs Daddy

I usually just sit in the chair and let her play on her own. Daddy? No. He turns on the hose to add water to her sand castles, and...

Helps her make elaborate chalk drawings.

He wins. Always.

Maggie As Photographer

Maggie now asks ALL THE TIME to get behind the camera. I've kept some of the more interesting shots--most of them are of the ceiling, the floor, the wall, etc. I actually overheard her say, "say cheese wall". How could she possibly tell a WALL to say cheese??

Dora in the baby chair. I hope Maggie is ok with the actual baby sitting in the chair!

Dumbo--a good friend:

And, most importantly, LOADS of Daddy pics:

Ok, Daddy, now you take one of me:

Strawberries on the Wall

I am just thrilled that summer is coming (or here--you never know in Colorado!). Warm, sunny weather is for me. Each nice day usually finds us spending at least a little time in our backyard. Maggie loves to hang out on the wall and somehow remembers last year when I let her sit on the retaining wall and eat watermelon. Well, I didn't have any watermelon but I let her eat some strawberries up there. She was so sweet and happy about it.

Things I Want Recorded

Maggie has taken to the Swiffer. She goes into out utility room, uses all her strength to move a huge hamper (usually pretty full) out of the way, and yanks it out of the wall clip saying things like "I got it, I got it, no problem". I've decided if this is going to be a regular thing I'll actually put a Swiffer pad on it and let her clean the floors.

At dinner she pulls up a chair next to her dad, flops her arms on the table, looks directly at him and says, "Daddy, what's the big idea?".

Right now I'm watching her on the video monitor 1.5 hours AFTER I put her to bed while she plays, sings to her stuffed animals, turns her lamp on and off...and on and off a million times, knocks on the door and just expects us to come and answer it. It's hilarious to watch.

Patrick was extra productive one weekend and really got a lot of little tasks done that I've been asking for. He had Maggie help. She felt so proud. One of the projects was to hang two hooks on the bathroom wall for kids towels. She told me she had done it.

While my mom and sister, Ellen, were in town we spent a lot of time just hanging out on the couch--bored. I'd say "whatcha wanna do??" and they'd say "We dunno...". Well Maggie thought she'd make a suggestion. She grabbed one of her plastic cups off the coffee table and said, "you can pee in a cup!". Apparently she was MUCH more aware of the few doctors appointments she's had to tag along to with me. That is one thing I'll never miss about every single dingle pregnancy appt--peeing in a cup!

Maggie was walking up the stairs by herself the other day and I yelled from the couch, "Where you going?" to which she responded, "um, I'm going to check my email". That's what I say every time Patrick leaves his office for a few moments--I run for the computer and check my email.

Easter Goodness

Maggie had a great Easter! She loved everything the Easter Bunny left for her in a basket and she had a BALL hunting for eggs. In fact, after our brunch at the neighbors she re-hid all the eggs and made Patrick hunt for them (not just once, but about 5-6 times). Patient Patrick hunted for those eggs over and over. When he was done she'd tell him "good job, Daddy!".

She got some Cinderella socks in her basket and I could not get them off of her! She's never even seen the movie--just sees her on all the Disney products and was drawn to her I guess.

Another Day, Another Party

Most of Maggie's friends from our mommy group are spring babies. That means we do a marathon of birthday parties around this time. The latest was Matigan. Maggie had a very good time and Matigan's parents (and even the other parents there) were so good at taking care of her while I basically sat there feeling large.

First Bubbles Of The Year

I'm huge pregnant and terribly tired. I feel badly for my poor daughter who gets a dud of a mother right now. Well, the other day it was not only nice weather but I had a moment of energy! We pulled out the bubbles.

Playdate with Owen

We've been a little inconsistent as of late but we are still doing a weekly playdate with Owen. They are just so much fun together.

I do feel a little bad for Owen because he's SUCH a sweet kid and Maggie is getting more and more bossy. I really have to watch that she doesn't just demand he do whatever she wants--she tries. Notice the shoe choice for Owen in the pic below. Maggie insisted they were going to the beach and he needed flip flops.

Addy Crapo's Third Birthday

Addy Crapo had a "slumber party" birthday party (everyone packed up and went home at the end--no actual sleep overs for a bunch of two and three year olds!). Maggie had so much fun it took us a while to calm her down enough to fall asleep when I brought her home.

Making beds out of Twinkies with icing as the blanket and Nilla wafers as a head/face. Maggie ate about 3 spoonfuls of straight icing. Yum! Notice Maggie and birthday girl Addy had the same pig pattern on their jammies.

I think we're going to have to buy her a laptop like the one Addy owns. She clung to it all night long!

Decorating Eggs

I was so big and uncomfortable while Ellen and my mom were in town that I didn't really provide a lot of entertainment for them. They basically just hung out while I complained about getting this baby out asap!
I managed to pull off an afternoon of egg decorating. We spent some time at Micheals craft to pick out supplies. It took a while but they finally seemed to get into the spirit and picked out some stuff for decorating. We bought wooden eggs for easier transport back to Utah. I really love the idea of the blown out eggs but with kids I think I just might switch to the wooden ones for a few years!

I have some blown out eggs that, when I have an afternoon devoted to Maggie, I'll have her make an official Easter egg that I'll add to our permanent collection. But to keep her busy while we worked I let her decorate some hard boiled eggs.

The blue egg with rhinestones is the only blown out egg (mine), the pink and black one is mine as well but I used the extra wooden one for that. The two eggs in the middle are Ellens and the last two (including the bigger blue one) are my mom's. I'm glad we did this!

Miss Them Already

Although I'm sure they were bored to tears while visiting, we miss Mom and Ellen already!

Did I happen to mention they flew in during the worst storm of the season? Seriously. Most flights were cancelled, I couldn't even see the fence in my back yard through the white-out conditions, all schools were cancelled, government agencies sent all employees home. It was CRAZY. I was convinced they weren't going to make it. In fact, the airline told them that, although they didn't have a way to land in Colorado, they were going to take off anyway. By the time they reached Denver it had cleared just enough to land safely. Patrick and I white-knuckled the drive down to pick them up and I was terribly relieved to get back home with everyone safe and sound!

Childrens Museum of Denver

While my sister and mother were in town we took Maggie to the Childrens Museum of Denver. It was crazy crowded but we managed to have a pretty good time.

She was supposed to be dressing up and dancing. She chose to just stare at the other kids (the dress SHE is wearing is the one she insisted on wearing from home!).

The painting room:

The firetruck/firefighter area. She was completely freaked out by the firefighter and wouldn't get near it for the picture:

The outdoor (?) room:

The grocery store/restaurant room:

Maggie Reads to Ellen

My mom and my sister, Ellen came to visit. It will take several posts to cover it all (even though we did next to nothing--my poor guests).

Maggie made Ellen listen to stories:
