Braids

I'm trying to work on my braiding skills (or at least develop some!). My goal to do a great french braid. Maggie is a very patient daughter who holds very still for me.

Then we head to the park and mess them up.

This was Caroline's first jogging stroller ride without the car seat adaptor. She's still way too small for it but since it was just a couple of blocks away and I was slowly walking I thought it would be ok.

Fun With Daddy

Caroline rarely gets time with Daddy. Maggie pretty much demands his full attention. She takes what she can get and really, really loves it.

(yes, I know she has terrible red-eye but I'm on the laptop and it doesn't have photoshop).

And a cute pic of my girls:

Zoo Day

Patrick took his family to the zoo. It was overcast and sprinkled on and off--perfect zoo weather. This was one of Caroline's first times in the Bjorn and she would push her head completely back against my chest. So funny.

Maggie used the map to direct from her daddy's shoulders:

Patricks Birthday

Yes, I'm actually that far behind on blogging. Patrick's birthday is July 24th! Oh well, I have two kids--things take longer these days!
He has a standard birthday meal--BBQ chicken, corn on the cob--from his childhood.

He has a standard cake (also from his childhood):

I've told him every year that I've know him that you don't/shouldn't actually frost an angel food cake but...this is what he wants.

We had a good time. As always.

What Caroline does while I attempt some sit-ups:

Maggie and friend Addy:

Maggie is a great speller. She can spell her name, daddy, mommy, apple, zoo, and silly. Below is both apple and zoo (you might have to click on the image to enlarge).

When asking about a word or a letter she says things like, "mommy, does z start with zipper?".

Some fancy people Maggie drew with some chalk:

Caroline ONLY likes to be held out--where she can see the world and participate in all activities. No baby/cradle hold, up on the shoulder hold, or sling hold for this chick:

The bumbo chair is in use now:

Maggie put her marker caps on each finger.

After a very long (and mysterious) absence, the booties I knit for Caroline magically appeared. Hmmm.

Another scared baby shot:

The glasses are for the Crayola 3D sidewalk chalk--pretty cool stuff.

I made my mother-in-laws chocolate spice cake. SO yummy!

I'm going to have loads of these types of shots. Maggie is constantly hugging Caroline and asking me to take a picture.

We regularly have picnics in front of the tv. Yes, that IS baby food--squash. It's the only way to get her to eat vegetables so we just keep giving it to her. In fact, we have peas, squash, carrots, and sweet potatoes in baby food form. We ask her which "squash" she wants and she picks one. You do what you have to do, right?

I Will Figure Out This Hand Thing

Caroline works really hard to figure out her hands. Are these things mine? How do I get them in my mouth?

I got it! I got it!
