Dressing Up For Church

This was a fun set of pictures I took of Caroline. They're blurry but I still liked her expression in them.

Funny lip pursing. Maggie did this too.

Just Stuff

Maggie made a train track out of tooth picks then laid a bunch of random things on the tracks. She was so proud.

Caroline is growing up:

Sleeping Baby

She furrows her brow a lot while sleeping:

I swear, this is how she kept her hand while in my belly. Most of my ultrasounds look like it:

A Small Connection

Maggie still pretty much ignores Caroline so when she asked to hold her I jumped to oblige.

The Bottle Is Finally Gone

We finally put our foot down on something in Maggie's life and took away her bottles. She was never one to walk around drinking from one but it was the only way to get her enough liquids in a day so I let it go on way too long. For regular drinking purposes she used a sippy cup. BUT...she did ask for "warm white milk in a bottle" at least once a day.
I bribed her with a baby stroller to toss the bottles. We've only had one melt down over it since.

Granted, this of all Maggie's bad habits, was the easiest to tackle (we still have a binki and potty issue--big time) but I'm happy to have done something.

And a random pic of Caroline:

She's still not a fan of the car seat which makes errands a little difficult.

Sunday Fun

Finally, another family picture. Towards the end of my pregnancy I just couldn't do more than complain about being pregnant. I couldn't stop complaining long enough to take a family picture. Maggie, you can tell from her face, had a great time at church (which is where she got the flower headband). Caroline is stretching and none too happy to be so rudely jerked out of her car seat she had fallen asleep in.

After church Patrick and Maggie spent almost the entire afternoon in the kiddie pool.

Caroline slept in her swing/seat and I sat around feeling tired yet couldn't fall asleep myself.

The Only Picture I Took Of The Farmers Market

We hit the farmers market in Longmont this last weekend. I took one whole picture. That's it. Hm.

Yes, this actually was at the farmers market (although it could be anywhere). It was colder than expected so I bundled up the little one. She made this funny moaning sound the whole time we were there. It was hysterical. Maggie ran around like crazy with her dad and even helped pay (or just stole money from her dad). I'm so happy the market is open for the season! Fresh food and fun each and every Saturday.

Baskin Robbins WILL Be A Problem

The new Baskin Robbins is a simple 10-15 minute walk from our house--the perfect stroll with the kids. We've already been twice. I knew this would be a problem for post baby weight loss!

Doesn't Maggie look maniacal in this pic??

Has It Been That Long?

Have I really gone that long without a post? I must be overwhelmed...

Things are good. Crazy. Busy. Caroline is great and Maggie is adjusting to all the changes like a champ.

We had our first playdate with two kids. We met Micaela and Addy at Sandstone Ranch park for lunch. My, oh my, was that an ordeal! We did suprisingly well until it was time to leave and Maggie started to melt down and I had Caroline in my arms and I didn't know WHAT to do.

We came home to more gifts for the new babe (and one for Maggie--thanks Michelle for that). Maggie immediately put on her new t-shirt and insisted on a picture. Like the face she pulls? It's getting harder and harder to get a normal smile out of her these days.

Life With Two Kids

Caroline had a slight case of jaundice. She hung out in the sun a bit to remedy the problem.

The weather is getting nice! Backyard time.
Getting used to a car seat:

Coloring while mommy feeds baby sister:

Trying on the slippers I knitted for her:

Maggie got the computer as a gift when she came to the hospital to meet Caroline. She loves it!

Maggie got pink eye (thank you very much daycare) which she gave to me. We headed to the doctor for some drops. There were at least 4 days of her waking up with her eyes completely sealed shut from the goop. So sad. We got the drops in time for my eyes to avoid that!

Very little awake time still. It's nice to see her eyes once in a while.

Daddy has been fabulous at keeping Maggie happy and occupied:

When left to her own devices she does this (that's baby sisters pacifier on top):
These are all of Maggie's bedtime friends. Somehow they made it down stairs to the couch one morning. Yes, she sleeps with ALL of these guys--and she knows when one is missing!

Since we've been so sick I've not really allowed Maggie to be near her sister. In the past couple of days we've been working on their relationship. We told Maggie that Caroline will squeeze her finger if she put it in her little hand. Maggie LOVES it. While driving to the store she asked if I could help Caroline grab her finger and I said I couldn't while driving but to try anyway. She got Caroline to squeeze and yelled, "she's doing it Mommy! Take a picture". I did the second we parked the car.

Helping Out At Home

**FYI: Post Written Pre-Caroline**

Maggie had a lesson at church on helping out at home. Each kid got their own little broom and dust pan--cute huh?

Storytime & The "Libary"

**FYI: Post Written Pre-Caroline**

Don't you love how kids drop the first "r" in library? Maggie asks to go to the "libary" all the time. I love hearing it. We try to go every week for storytime and to pick out new books for home. Lately she's been so excited about picking her own books she can barely sit through the storytime. She fidgets, sits on my lap rather than with the kids on the floor, and whispers in my ear asking when she gets her sticker (answer: at the end). This particular week was extra fun for her because she got a green sticker--her favorite color. If you look closely you can see the green smiley sticker on the back of her hand.

We've Been So Lucky This Year

**FYI: Post Written Pre-Caroline**

We've been very lucky this year when it comes to the sicklies. Last year we spent months (and months!) of one illness after another. We had little to nothing this year. Well, earlier this week we were out to dinner with our friends and I mentioned how grateful I am to be out of cold and flu season with no real down time. Maggie woke up the very next morning with a fever and a head full of snot. Cool. She sneezes and then runs to me saying, "Mommy, I have snots!"

Pictures From Julie

Before Julie left for Utah (oh, will we ever miss Julie and Charlotte's help--we never had it so good!) she downloaded some photos from her camera...

Caroline is showing that on this particular day she is 4 days old!

So Much

There is just so much going on it's been difficult to get any blogging done!

So in the meantime:

Caroline Elanore McCarty

My babe is here. May 1 at 1:20pm. Caroline was 7lbs, 1oz and 20 3/4 inches. We are thrilled to have her! My sisters, Julie and Charlotte were driving from Utah during my labor and met her that night. Julie took tons of pictures and is by far the better photographer so when I get ahold of her camera you'll get tons of photos!
