Weekend Review: Rhythm on the River & Cards

We had another busy and very fun weekend. Friday Maggie got a little bit of time with our neighbor Leah. She really likes it when Leah stops by.

Saturday we went to Rhythm on the River. What a great time! Maggie was able to enjoy more of it than last year (which you can check out HERE). We did so much!

Sat in a firetruck.

Rode around in a race car.

Sat in the back of a police cruiser.

Play Dough.

Learning how to make this darn thing spin (it took her a bit)!

Ate the yummiest mango sorbet ever.

Tried again and again to hula hoop.

Went round and round in a swing.

Made and decorated our own little drum.

Phew! What a crazy day...but not over. That night we had the Crapos and Dowens over for a night of pizza and cards. We wanted to focus on the card game so we kinda let the kids run wild.

Nothing special about Sunday. It was hot. She got wet.

New Cell Phone

My cell phone died. Just up and died. The Verizon guys was extremely helpful (um, not) in helping me get the situation remedied. I ended up with a flip phone that looks a lot like Patrick's. Maggie plays with Patrick's phone all the time so she immediately went to work on mine. She kept flipping it open and saying, "cheese!". I guess Patrick takes a lot of phone pics of her.

I'm sure she's programmed 732nj9f899 and f8ie4njmciuu in case I need to call them.

Maggie Says I Love You...Cause I Make Her

Maggie has said I Love You a few times. She really makes you work for it. I got her to say it on film though.

New Jammies

I really, really want Maggie to be wearing these at night. Lovely organic pj's. Gorgeous, good for her and, well, the ideal.

Unfortunately this is what she actually wears to bed. Dora pajamas! She passed them in Target the other day and HAD to have them. All polyester and dripping in fire retardant chemicals. Ugh.

I could have said no and kept walking. After all, I am the mother. But she LOVES them! How could I deny her that? It would just be cruel.

Holiday Video

Here's a few clips of the holiday weekend. You can tell chocolate was the weekend theme.

Weekend Review: July 4th Fun Part 2

On Saturday we ran errands. We stopped between stores to play and met a woman (and her dog) who was just the sweetest thing. All the kids were crowded around chatting her up and petting the dog. By the end of the whole thing she had them doing the hokey pokey!

I gave Maggie her first fudgesicle.

Our neighbors had a big BBQ that evening and I was responsible for bringing a dessert. I went with my standard.

Our Sunday afternoon walk had a highlight of...a big swarming pile of ants. cool.

Pre-dinner watermelon snack.

Post dinner chocolate ice cream.

Now that we are disgustingly full of holiday-bad-for-you foods we're ready to start our week!

Weekend Review: July 4th Fun

I'm forced to do another weekend review in two parts--hey, we had a lot going on. On July 4th we woke up at 5am to get out the door in time to make my 5k race in Greeley--Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Race for the Cure. It was SO hard to get up that early. Maggie was fine with it though. Here's some pictures of us pre and post race.

I really wish I could have taken a picture of Patrick and Maggie as I passed them. Maggie was having a really good time and just freaked out when she spotted me in the crowd, shouting Mommy, Hi Mommy!

After a quick shower I put together a picnic and we headed to Thompson Park for the Longmont Symphony Orchestra concert. It was way hot so we were happy to find a perfectly shady spot to sit, eat, and listen. This was SO cool! If we ever stay in Colorado for the 4th again I'm definitely doing this again.

We were exhausted by the time we made it home. Patrick was kind enough to let both Maggie and I take a nap before the evening fun. We had the Crapos over for dessert and "fireworks". The kids were totally nervous at first but soon warmed up to the whole idea.

Happy Birthday Grampy!

The other day I was having dinner with my good friend Micaela (one of the few friends I've had that has had the pleasure of knowing my dad pretty well). She looked at me and asked, "Aren't you sad that no one in Colorado knows your dad?".

Um, yes, I am. Happy Birthday Dad.

Girlfriend Brunch

We spent a big part of the day with my girlfriends eating, chatting, and playing with the kids. I actually took quite a few pictures.

First, Maggie found the helmet Vicki got for Alex when he first learned to crawl (they have lots of gorgeous stone throughout their house). She loved it! Can we say short bus? Luke just followed her around to torment her.

The girlfriends (I guess I rarely show the mommies) Vicki (with daughter Brooke) and Julie.

Brooke and Maggie had a good time "connecting".

The afternoon was all about enjoying some summer fruit (don't ya just LOVE summer fruits??) and doing some very serious coloring with dad.

The Cave

I noticed a flash light in Maggie's room and asked Patrick why it was there. He said it was for their new game "the cave". I managed to capture that game today.

Patrick actually is in both pictures but just hiding off to the side in the first one.

Pizza With Friends

We had a couple of families over for homemade pizza last night. It was SO much fun! All the kids were fun and very cute together. It was nice to have the girls all in town at once--summer can get so crazy. We got a picture of almost all the kids sitting on the retaining wall snacking on some watermelon.

We played with bubbles. I wish the kids were looking at the camera because they are covered in chocolate!

Hopefully I'll beg some pictures off my friend Vicki (who took some very cute shots of the kids) and I'll post those later.

Lets Get a Shot Without the Binki Please

I tried to get a picture of Maggie in the tiny chair she likes to sit on. After taking the first one I started coaxing her to take the binki out and smile for a proper photo. This is what I got.
