Sedona Leftovers

I forgot to include a few pics that I really liked in the Sedona post.
Maggie and Patrick waiting for the sunset photo op.

This was actually a painting to indicate the womens restroom but Maggie insisted on getting her picture taken next to it.

While we packed up our condo on the last day Maggie was using the bed guard rails to make this:

Sedona Vacation

Longest post ever:

Instead of the beach in Florida, this year we chose to spend our week in Sedona Arizona. Oh, what fun! Maggie had so much fun with her cousins she ended up hurting herself several times--one time she actually gave herself a bloody nose.

The cousins piling on Uncle Don:

Maggie read the bible (at our hotel room) to Caroline:

There was a little shopping area in Sedona with tons of statues and fountains. Maggie learned how to throw a coin into a fountain and made a wish--then proceeded to do just that about 50 times! Her first handful of wishes: Apple, Tree, Person, Mirror. She might need a little lesson on proper wishing.

Maggie took this of me and Caroline one morning. Yes, I know I look terrible first thing in the morning but I still want to include this pic because Maggie took it.

Mommy! Take a picture of this:

Maggie tried on her Daddy's new swim shorts:

The kids with red rock:

Our condo complex had a game room:

We celebrated Grandma's birthday:

Maggie spent 2.2 seconds in the pool the whole week. She mostly wanted to run around the perimeter and scream at her dad: Daddy! What is this? Daddy! Can you help me? Daddy! Is this sharp? Daddy.....!

We had a great time!

Movie Night #2

These are both super long and I commend anyone who gets through them:

Movie Night #1

Now that I've figured out my video problems, be prepared for several days worth of McCarty movie fun.

This first one is not all that exciting but I still felt it was sweet.

Sorry about my voice in this one. I was talking on the phone while trying to catch how cute Caroline was being at the same time.

First Video of Caroline

I've had some technical difficulties with movie clips. Finally resolved I think. Here are the first bits of video I took of Caoline. The first part is her less than 24 hours old and the other is her at day 3 or 4.

Things I Want Recorded

Mommy, where on this globe do I live? (she holds up a miniature globe)

M-A-O-U. That spells marvelous (pronounced marbelous). Maggie is way into spelling things and knowing "what does that spell?". When you read her a story she follows along the sentences with her finger (never coordinating the word with what I'm saying at the time).

As Patrick is packing for our trip to AZ he yells to me, "honey, are you going to bring that breast feeding tarp with us? It would be good for the plane". Tarp??? Um, do you mean a breast feeding cover?

Mommy, you are being rude and foolish.

Caroline loves her bath. She's most smiley at this time. She doesn't like putting her pj's on after the bath and goes from being such a happy baby to screaming her head off.

Maggie: Mommy, I want to show you a puppet show.
Mommy: ok....Well, that's not a puppet show sweetie. That's just you throwing Dora at me.

Ciara, Maggie's cousin, is crying at a restaurant due to some dispute with her parents. Maggie is carefully watching: Daddy, is Ciara traumatized?

Daddy? Can we get in a rocket ship and go into outer space and see the moon?

Caroline's 2 month well baby check up: July9th. Height 22 1/4" 40%, Weight 10lbs 7oz 40%. I'm actually surprised she's that small. She seems like such a monster compared to Maggie at that age.

Daddy, you are my boyfriend.

Caroline is very demanding. Every time I set her down she immediately starts to cry. She wants to be held all the time! Maggie was just content to sit where ever you set her for long periods of time. I simply can't complain about anything this baby does though--she sleeps like a champ and that is THE most important thing.

Bunch of Randoms

Chatting on the phone:

In the jogging stroller. Kind of irritated I woke her up upon arriving home:

Patrick likes to prop Caroline up on the couch--and she actually likes it. Maggie then proceeds to attack (erh, um, love her).

When I work in the front yard I open the door and put Caroline in the doorway and just let Maggie wander in and out. Maggie had given Caroline her set of plastic horseshoes to play with then settled down with a map we have of Colorado. "Where on here do I live Mommy?" is what I heard constantly--even after I pointed to our city over and over.

Finally overcoming her fear of the mixer to help me make muffins.

**after reviewing these photos I must say: I do TRY to get Caroline's hair to behave. It will not. Seriously.

Lady Bugs

We're getting quite a lot of bugs in the yard these days. I decided to buy some lady bugs in order to eat down some of them. It was WILD letting them go. The white mesh bag is what they came in. All the black dots on the retaining wall are lady bugs.

It's worth clicking on each picture for a closer look.

While I Clean

Caroline hangs in the chair, usually falls asleep.

Maggie finds make up and covers her lovely face:

Family Picture

Yet another one.

I could NOT get Maggie to cooperate.

Caroline's New Toy

Ah, the fun toys a baby gets to play with. Poor thing. She mostly just fusses when I lay her on it. The second picture looks like she's kind of smiling. She's been doing a ton of smiling and cooing lately but every time I try to capture it on film she stops to focus on the camera! It's driving me nuts.

Daddy & Caroline, Mama & Caroline

I have a TON of pictures of Patrick with Maggie. And now it begins with Caroline. It's not so easy to get a picture of me with the kids because I'm always the photographer.

Picnic

Maggie helped prepare some coleslaw, biscuits, and watermelon slices for a ward (church) picnic. Patrick made his own fried chicken recipe. Lots of fun. The bigger kids played kick ball. They actually let Maggie "play" (they pitched to her, let her kick the ball and run the bases). I watched from a distance and cursed that I didn't have a camera!

Caroline watched the preparations from her cozy vibrating chair on the kitchen table.

Later that afternoon we played around a bit. We could not get a good picture of both kids together--one or both of them were always looking silly:

Then Maggie snagged Caroline's baby legs and put them on to play:

Wallet Contents

Taking apart my wallet. She does this at least once a week. Surprisingly I've only lost a library card!
