Thanksgiving Prep

Discovery Days had the cutest crafts for the big day. The turkey hat was a huge success.

And she made the most stunning centerpiece for our table--see her gluing it all together?

The finished project:

Later we made some cake and cupcakes. Oh, yes--that's the damage Patrick and I did in ONE evening of lounging on the couch.

The cupcakes were for Maggie.

Christmas Wish List (Sort Of)

This year we're doing a small, quiet Christmas. Cutting down and scaling back on gifts and focusing on the good stuff. I'm almost glad for the current economic situation since most Christmases I spend FREAKING out over getting the best/coolest/most thoughtful gift for each and every person on my list.

But...I thought it might be fun to put together a "Dream Wish List" of stuff I'd love to own but won't ever buy. My dad would use the word frivolous.

(Thanks Moms Purse for the graphic)

1. Sephora's Scent Sampler This one is actually reasonably priced but I just can't justify spending money on a smell.

2. Coach Lexington Watch I can imagine dropping my child to avoid damaging this while wearing it--it was expensive. No, cannot own it.

3. Nintendo DS with Brain Age I feel my brain rotting. This might help. Might. Plus, gaming--good fun.

4. Teapot from Anthropologie And maybe a fabulous new kitchen with display shelves for it and my other tea pots and tea cups.

5. The extra cool Kindle I would really look so sophisticated carrying this around too!

6. A new couch. This one is from Pottery Barn. I want a red couch. I just do.

7. (Not Shown) A standing month appointment for a facial and full body massage.

So if you win the lottery kick something my way. What's on your dream wish list?

We're Setting Up a Few Rules

Maggie is spoiled. I do a good portion of the spoiling but nothing compares to what she gets from her dad. I was complaining that all this permissiveness is teaching our daughter that she can and should do whatever she wants. Patrick took out a piece of paper and we decided on a few rules. He then hung the list on the fridge. A few days later I noticed an addition...

Lets Watch My DVDV Snoopy

Wearing Mr Potato Head's glasses (a perfect fit) and a tiny frisbee. She once made one of her friends stand a few feet away and said, "I'll throw this plate at you". Luckily I stopped her before that little frisbee did some damage.

I Wear My Sunglasses Like Mommy

Maggie likes to put her sunglasses on her head like I do.

Flu Shot

I've never had a flu shot until this year. For some reason I just suddenly felt I had to have one this year. And Maggie.
Mine was painful and hurt (hurt!) for over 24 hours. I was very worried for Maggie's turn. The nurse told me to hold her tight since most kids squirm and swat at it. The needle went in, she gave a weird look, the needle came out, and she slowly covered the freshly bandaged wound like "how dare you?". Then it was done. Not a peep from her. We got in the car and she said, "go show Daddy my poke?". We did just that first thing upon returning home.

Brookie's Birthday Bash

This past weekend was our friend, Brooke's, first birthday party. Lots of fun!

Waiting for mom and dad to get ready...

She loved the balloons and sat on her dad's shoulders to sing both Happy Birthday and Itsy Bitsy Spider to the birthday girl.

The Brookie (princess) Girl:

Maggie gave Brooke a doll. Click HERE to see a video of her kissing the new little dolly.

Pregnancy Update

Week 15 and feeling great! No morning sickness, bouts of actual energy, showing a teeny bit--enough to force me into too big maternity clothes (this is way too early!). And my appetite is just getting revved up.

According to Pregnancy Weekly my babe is 4 inches long and is developing a hairline. Why, oh why, has science not caught up with people who wanna know the sex of their child asap? I mean without a scary needle in the belly. Our ultrasounds need to get much better/clearer for this purpose alone.

We worry (ok, I worry and Patrick goes along with it) about what will happen to Maggie when labor starts. The last one started abruptly at 2:15am with my water breaking and ended only 4 hours later with Mags appearing on the scene. If it happens at all like that we don't have much time to get her passed off and us to the hospital. Lots of people have offered so it's not a true problem but I stew about it every day.

Hey, these things are good for....carrying my stuff around!

Have To Wait

I blew out all of the power in our basement (requiring an electrician to fix) so I'm without computer. Patrick has graciously allowed me to use his for a few minutes in between work stuff but it looks like blogging is on hold until we get me some juice.

In case you wanted to know, I had every single dingle piece of electronic equipment plugged into one outlet down there. It just gave up. I'm lucky my treadmill and computer weren't damaged.

My DVDV?

Maggie now prefers to watch her DVD's on her "DVDV" player. She's even figured out how to work it herself--thumbing through our CD case, picking the video of choice, then actually putting it in the machine and hitting the play button! Very good, Maggie! Now mommy can watch something she wants while you do that. Do you have any idea how nice it is to kinda block out all the Wiggles, Dora, Baby Einstein with my own tv show going on the regular tv?

Pretend with Daddy: Driving Lessons

"Going Out" with Daddy includes wearing my sunglasses and driving there on the stairs. She wears one pair of sunglasses. Daddy wears another. They get my keys off the hook by the phone and "drive" to where ever it is she thinks they're going (it varies). She's so far to one side as to give her dad room to sit and drive next to her.

Where'd Your Pants Go?

Maggie "helped" her dad with some yardwork and got a little dirty. I had to strip off her filty pants and let her run around like this til the job was done.

Weekend Review: Mostly Tea

We had a nice, relaxing weekend. A grocery shopping trip always ends up being a toy shopping trip. She got some Dora Play-Dough

We went on a walk as a family Saturday afternoon which was really nice. Maggie was so much more animated with her daddy pushing the stroller. She could hardly contain herself.

We came home to a package sent from Julie--Maggie's somewhat late birthday gift. She literally spent the rest of the weekend playing with it!

There are 4 place settings. "One for Daddy, one for Mommy, one for Maggie, one for Julie!"

Sunday after our hometeachers left Maggie found my old sunglasses to play with. She loves them and plays with them a lot to "go out".

Beautiful Flower Girl

Patrick bought me flowers the other day out of the blue (aawwwww). Such a good guy. Thanks love. Maggie insisted on the biggest one for herself.

She Does Not Disappoint

This girl has a new surprise for me every time I retrieve her in the morning or from a nap. This time she'd played dress up with everything she was tall enough to reach in her closet (all over the floor) and she decided a Dora pull up was important as well.

Not a Peep Heard Through the Monitor

Another morning with weird Maggie behavior. She'd taken everything she could gather and loaded up her changing table.

She also tried to take off her jammies but couldn't quite get the button undone.

Good morning baby girl.
